Overview
I am seeking a dedicated personal assistant for a bubbly and inquisitive seven-year-old girl who lives in the LS23 area. She is autistic and requires someone to build a positive, trusting relationship and provide one-to-one support to help her access activities in the local community. The role requires vigilance, as she has a low sense of danger, and the ability to support individuals with challenging behaviours. The household is diverse; candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged.
Responsibilities
* Provide one-to-one support to the child to develop integration, interaction, communication, life and social skills.
* Safely access outdoor and community activities (beaches, pools, swimming, water play) and local outings.
* Engage in outdoor activities and interact with the family dog (dog-friendly preferred but not mandatory).
* Support behavioural understanding and management in line with safeguarding guidelines.
* Support inclusion and create a positive, trusting relationship with the child.
Qualifications
* Experience working with autistic individuals and/or children with challenging behaviours.
* Patience, good-natured attitude, and ability to engage a child in activities.
* Good sense of safety and vigilance and ability to respond appropriately in potentially risky situations.
* Full UK driving license and own car; willingness to use own transport.
* Insurance appropriate for role (e.g., car insurance).

* Location: LS23 area
* Hours: 4 hours per week during term time; 6 hours per week during holidays; potential for overtime
* Pay: £13 per hour, plus activity expenses
* Be comfortable with dogs in the home
