Job Title: Health & Safety Champion (Prove Design)

Salary: £27,855 rising to £29,279 when role goals are met

Location: Desford, Leicestershire

Contract: Full time & permanent

The Opportunity

With Health & Safety being our number one priority at Caterpillar, the Health & Safety Champion will have an important role in supporting our expressed vision to build a culture where everyone’s behaviour supports a safe environment within a successful and sustainable business. You will play a key part in supporting our health and safety improvement programme within the Prove & Design department and be expected to advise, encourage and train colleagues to work safely.

As a Health & Safety Champion, you are accountable for, but not limited to:

* Provide one-to-one or team coaching, offering practical advice and support on health, safety, and environmental matters, including best practices.

* Conduct structured daily safety walks with Team Leaders, using these as opportunities to coach and reinforce safety culture.

* Assist in the investigation of accidents, near misses, incidents, and NDSBs, ensuring lessons learned are shared and applied.

* Continuously review and validate risk assessments to ensure they remain accurate, compliant, and fit for purpose.

* Develop and maintain Safe Working Practice documents tailored to departmental needs.

What You Can Demonstrate:

* Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices – Able to apply HSE principles in day-to-day operations and support compliance with relevant standards and procedures.

* Coaching and mentoring skills – Capable of guiding and supporting colleagues, particularly newly trained employees, to reinforce learning and encourage safe and effective work practices.

What You May Have:

* A relevant qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH) is desirable, though not essential. Full training will be provided based on a training needs analysis to ensure the jobholder gains the necessary skills and knowledge to meet role requirements.

* Willingness to work towards a recognised safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Certificate or BSC Level 3) is essential.

Contract: Permanent
