Job Title: Head of Business Performance

Salary: £60,400 - £80,800 (UK salary)

Location: Cambridge, UK or Madrid, Spain (depending on where you are located)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full Time

We are looking for a senior leader to drive business and financial performance across English Propositions—ensuring our global teams are equipped, aligned and operating at their best. We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world‑leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.


About The Role

As Head of Business Performance, you will lead how performance is planned, managed and optimised across English Propositions. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will oversee budgets, financial planning and reporting, ensuring Propositions is well positioned to deliver current priorities and future ambitions.

You will also shape workforce capability, business improvement and the use of insight. By strengthening learning, governance and performance frameworks, you’ll support sustainable change and embed data‑led decision making across teams.


You Will Be Responsible For

* Designing and evolving offshore and global resource models to meet changing business needs
* Setting and delivering a professional learning and development strategy aligned to organisational priorities
* Improving data quality, dashboards and governance to support better decision making

This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40‑60% of their time collaborating and connecting face‑to‑face at their dedicated location. Aside from our hybrid principles, other flexible working requests will be considered from the first day of employment, including other work arrangements should you require adjustments due to a disability or long‑term health condition.


About You

You are a commercially aware, strategically minded leader with a strong track record of driving performance in complex, global organisations. You are comfortable operating across multiple domains and bring clarity, structure and momentum to everything you lead.

You know how to turn data into insight, plans into action, and strategy into measurable outcomes. You are confident influencing senior stakeholders and equally effective at building high‑performing teams.


You Will Bring

* Proven experience managing budgets, financial planning cycles and performance reporting
* Strong experience of resource planning and workforce strategy
* Track record of leading business change and driving business performance
* Ability to use data and dashboards to inform decision making
* Experience influencing senior stakeholders in a global, matrixed environment
* Excellent communication and leadership skills


Requirements
