The Job Title is responsible outline summary of the role.
The Role
1. Lead the delivery of STA Lifeguard, First Aid, Pool Plant and Aquatics courses, and oversee all internal and external training quality assurance in line with regulatory and STA awarding-body requirements.
2. Coordinate, plan and review monthly club competency training across all locations, ensuring it meets Virgin Active standards, while identifying training risks, tracking qualification expiry dates and arranging additional sessions when required.
3. Manage and support the LGFA Tutor Team, Club Competent Persons, and Lifeguard/First Aid/Aquatic Trainers, including training, development, performance reviews, CPD and standardisation.
4. Lead Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) sampling, risk assessment strategies, maintain accurate training records on I-TUS, and support External Quality Assurance (EQA) visits.
5. Recruit, coordinate and support freelance tutors and assessors, and travel to clubs when needed to deliver competency training, tutor or assess STA courses, or conduct IQA activity.
6. Drive continuous improvement across course delivery models, training resources, reporting systems and upskill programmes, while acting as a subject matter expert in Lifeguarding and First Aid for wider business areas including HR and Health & Safety.
Experience
7. Accredited STA Tutor for Lifeguard and First Aid, with knowledge of STA Aquatic qualifications and willingness to develop further.
8. Level 3 AET and Level 4 IQA (or equivalent), with strong experience in Internal and External Quality Assurance within an Approved Training Centre.
9. Proven experience delivering Lifeguard and First Aid competency training.
10. Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder skills.
11. Strong organisation, attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
