ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
* Qualifications: Five GCSEs (Grades A*-C) including English, Mathematics and an Art & Design related subject, or equivalent higher level qualifications.
* Experience: Working experience in an Art and Design setting.
* Knowledge: Demonstrable evidence of:
o Requirements of a Technician 1 role
o Health and safety regulations relevant to the role
o General administrative processes and record keeping
* Skills & Abilities:
o Effective planning and organisational skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
o Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve outcomes.
o Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
o Evidence of how your experience and approach to work reflect the school’s values and ethos.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
* Minimum of one year’s experience in an Art and Design setting.
DISCLOSURE OF CRIMINAL BACKGROUND

School Principal through designated line manager
JOB PURPOSE
To provide technical support and assistance to teaching staff in the implementation of the school’s/department's educational programme.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provision and Maintenance of Facilities and Practical Resources
* Prepare, organise and basic construct resources for teacher demonstrations and practical examinations.
* Set out equipment and materials for class use and collect them when class is complete.
* Clean and store equipment and materials in designated storage areas; maintain items in a state of "ready for use".
* Dispose of used materials in a safe and approved manner.
* Ensure mandatory and/or statutory checks of materials and equipment are carried out by qualified personnel.
* Inform the line manager of unsatisfactory or unsafe items and arrange repair or disposal.
* Prevent unauthorised access to equipment and materials when not in use.
* Advise on health and safety issues related to the use of equipment.
Administration
* Operate manual and/or computerised systems for administrative tasks related to the area of work.
* Maintain inventory/records of departmental resources.
* Assist with ordering, purchasing, receiving, checking, storing and distribution of resources.
General
* Support all staff in ensuring the general safety of pupils.
* Assist with evacuation in emergencies.
* Undertake photocopying as required.
Additional Duties
* Handle cash for the purchase of practical materials.
* Assist with hospitality at meetings and school functions.
* Carry out minor maintenance repairs throughout the school within the employee’s competence.
