Teaching Assistant (SEND) Roles in Wigan - September 2025 Start

Are you a dynamic and empathetic Teaching Assistant ready for a new challenge? We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team, supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in primary schools across Wigan from September 2025.

This isn't just about providing support; it's about making a tangible difference. We're looking for professionals who can inspire, motivate, and empower children to achieve their full potential, regardless of their challenges.

What the role involves:

* Ad-hoc work: This may include providing general classroom support, assisting with class preparation, or covering temporary gaps, either with individuals or small groups.
* Long-term commitments: These roles require you to be an active part of the classroom team, working closely with a specific child on a one-to-one basis. This includes collaborating with teachers, preparing resources, adapting content for the child's needs, and communicating effectively with staff and parents. You may also be asked to assist with wider school contributions like break/lunchtime supervision, assemblies, and school trips.

To be a successful candidate, you'll need prior SEN experience or a strong understanding of special needs support. Please be aware that an interview or observation with the school may be part of the application process.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Creating resources and activities for one-to-one support tailored to a child's needs.
* Collaborating with classroom teachers and the SENCO to plan appropriate activities.
* Liaising with other professionals such as teachers, TAs, and specialist support staff.
* Working with classes, small groups, and individual children.
* Monitoring and tracking the development of the pupil you are supporting.

Essential requirements:

* Experience working with young people.
* Confidence in managing challenging behaviors.
* The ability to engage with and build rapport with children.
* A creative, proactive, and flexible approach to support.
* Experience with SEN or knowledge of learning difficulties.
* TA qualification is beneficial.

Associated Benefits:

* Competitive pay rate paid weekly.
* Access to an exciting network of local primary schools.
* Access to free CPD opportunities.
* Support from a dedicated consultant specializing in primary education.
* CV and application support.
* A "refer a friend" scheme with a reward of £300 in vouchers.

Randstad is committed to the safety of young children. All posts are subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Apply today to start your career in teaching with the support of Randstad Education and our partner primary schools in Preston. We can provide you with a network of opportunities and access to professional development.
