Teaching Assistant (KS1)

Kensington and Chelsea

ASAP start

£100 per day

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting young children in their learning and development. The ideal candidate will be patient, proactive, and nurturing, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Key duties and responsibilities:

·Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons, working with small groups or individual pupils to reinforce learning.

·Help set up the classroom each day, ensuring resources, materials, and learning aids are organised and accessible.

·Foster a positive learning environment where children are encouraged to think independently, ask questions, and develop confidence.

·Assist in phonics sessions and early reading activities, supporting pupils with reading, writing, and comprehension skills.

·Promote positive behaviour in line with the school’s policies, supporting children’s social and emotional development.

·Follow the advice and recommendations of professionals such as Occupational therapist and Educational Psychologists

·Observe pupils’ learning and provide feedback to the teacher, helping to track progress and identify areas where additional support is needed.

·Provide tailored support for pupils with additional needs, ensuring inclusivity and helping them access the curriculum effectively.

·Undertaking some supervisory duties i.e., gate duty, playground and lunchtime duties

·Assist in communicating progress and achievements, building strong relationships with parents where required.

·Support whole-school activities, events, and trips, ensuring a rich and engaging experience for pupils.

·Engage in ongoing training and CPD

Person Specification:

Qualifications & Education:

·Minimum Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) is desirable.

·Experience working with Key Stage One children in a school or early years setting.

·Knowledge of phonics programmes (e.g., Read Write Inc.) and early literacy support.

·Experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) is an advantage.

Skills & Knowledge:

·Ability to support learning effectively, working with individuals and small groups to reinforce teaching.

·Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage positively with children, colleagues, and parents.

·Ability to use initiative and work independently, as well as collaborate effectively within a team.

·Good organisation and time management skills, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.

·Basic IT skills, including the ability to use learning platforms and digital resources.

The successful candidate will be subject to enhanced clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Service and employment will be subject to references.
