What is a Volunteer Gardening Assistant? At the hospice we have extensive grounds that are lovingly cared for on a daily basis. It’s so important to us that our children & young people are able to enjoy themselves in a safe but fun environment. They can play on our boat in the Seaside Garden, spin till they make themselves dizzy in the play park or take in the colours and smells in our beautiful sensory garden. It will be your role to support our Gardener in ensuring all these areas are well maintained. Experience of gardening is not essential, it’s more important to us that you are keen to make a difference and enjoy looking after nature. What's involved? Hedge & Grass Cutting Sweeping and clearing away dropped leaves, twigs etc Weeding Plant care and get involved with seasonal planting Painting fences or decking areas Having an awareness of the services that Derian House offers to our Children, Young People and their families so you can answer any questions people may ask about the hospice.
