The role: We are seeking an experienced CNC Setter/Operator to join a busy production environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, setting and operating CNC machinery to manufacture components in line with technical specifications, quality requirements and production schedules. Key responsibilities: • Operation of CNC machinery, including machine setup, tooling changes, programme loading/editing, first-off inspection and quality verification. • Verify machine settings and carry out trial runs to ensure products meet specification. • Work closely with planning and commercial teams to provide updates on production progress and potential delivery impacts. • Conduct first-off and in-process inspections using measuring equipment to maintain quality standards. • Complete production, inspection and quality documentation accurately. • Investigate and report manufacturing or quality issues, supporting corrective actions where required. • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maximise efficiency, output and product consistency. • Support continuous improvement activities aimed at reducing downtime and improving productivity. • Assist colleagues with technical problem-solving and process-related issues. • Carry out routine preventative maintenance and support fault-finding activities when equipment issues arise. • Promote and maintain high standards of housekeeping, health & safety and safe working practices. • Provide guidance and support to less experienced operators and apprentices when required. Skills & experience: • Previous experience setting and operating CNC machinery (Wafios, Adtech, HTC, DKPM) within a manufacturing or engineering environment. • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. • Confident using inspection and measuring equipment. • Good understanding of quality control procedures and manufacturing best practice. • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet production deadlines. • Computer literate with experience working with CNC-controlled systems. • Positive, proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities. • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team. • Flexible and adaptable approach to changing production demands. • Knowledge of wire-forming, spring manufacturing or related metal-processing operations would be advantageous.
