NW ADASS Director

Join Us in Shaping the Future of Adult Social Care in the North West!

Are you a visionary leader with a passion for improving adult social care services? Do you thrive in a collaborative environment where your strategic thinking and innovative solutions can make a real difference? If so, we invite you to apply for the role of NW ADASS Director.

About NW ADASS: The North West Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (NW ADASS) is a membership organisation that brings together the region’s 23 Directors of Adult Social Services (DASS) from local authorities. Our mission is to deliver and improve adult social care services for our communities, ensuring that every day is the best it can be for the people of the North West. We work collaboratively with partners such as the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), and the Partners in Care and Health (PCH) partnership to achieve our vision.

Our Vision: We envision a North West where people live happy, healthy lives, supported by their community, family, and friends. When more help is needed, it starts with a conversation about what makes a great day for them, building upon the things in their life that enable them to live happily at home, supported by brilliant caring people.

About the Role: As the NW ADASS Director, you will harness the collective leadership of the region’s Directors to develop and advance the branch, taking it to the next level and beyond. This influential role is central to the development of the regional adult social care vision and strategy. You will work at very senior levels across social care and local government, developing positive relationships with key organizations and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

* Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of the region’s long-term strategy for adult social care improvement.
* Support Sub-Regional Arrangements: Support the three sub-regional areas (Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside, Lancashire and South Cumbria).
* Policy Development: Ensure high-quality strategy and policy development, aligning with sub-regional work.
* CQC Assurance: Deliver a robust CQC Assurance Preparation Offer.
* Annual Report and Business Planning: Develop and author these documents to set work priorities and support regional and national improvement activities.
* Fiscal Management: Manage the budget, including core and grant funding, ensuring robust governance.
* Change Management: Lead effective change management projects and foster a culture of continual improvement.
* Stakeholder Relationships: Develop positive relationships with key stakeholders and partners, including Directors of Adult Social Services, national ADASS, and the Local Government Association.

Why Wigan Council? At Wigan Council, we believe in the power of positive, accountable, courageous, and kind leadership. Our Team Wigan behaviours underpin everything we do, from how we talk to each other and work together, to the way we support our communities. We take pride in our commitment to innovation and excellence, and we are looking for a leader who shares these values.

The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for Wigan Borough. It draws on the strengths of our individual organisations, recognising that together we can achieve much more for our communities by delivering on our 2 place missions; create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work in them.

Here at Wigan, we are proud to support flexible working patterns, when the service can accommodate this. We also take a blended approach to where we work, depending on the work we do. This may include working from home, the office, or the community. We like to thank our employees for their hard work and commitment by giving them the opportunity to access a range of exclusive rewards and benefits click here to find out more about working for #TeamWigan.
