Lead Skills Teacher – Motor Vehicle
Harrogate College is seeking an experienced Lead Skills Teacher with specialist expertise in Motor Vehicle. The role is based full‑time within the Motor Vehicle workshop, including a new electric vehicle (EV) workshop currently under construction.
About the Role
As Lead Skills Teacher you will deliver full‑time study programmes to learners across all levels, providing specialist subject expertise in Motor Vehicle service, repair and PHEV/Electric Vehicle courses. You will also support curriculum development, maintain industry links, and ensure your students are prepared for further study, employment or apprenticeships.
Key Responsibilities
* Teach full‑time Motor Vehicle study programmes for ages 16–18 and post‑16 19+ learners.
* Deliver a range of Motor Vehicle Service, PHEV, Electrical Vehicle and Repair courses.
* Contribute to curriculum development and maintain up‑to‑date industrial practice within the team.
* Prepare and assess learners, keeping accurate records of progress.
* Engage students and enthuse the next generation of technicians.
* Keep current with CPD and industry updates.
Key Qualifications
* Relevant vocational or technical qualification in teaching Motor Vehicle.
* Experience teaching Motor Vehicle at a Further Education or equivalent setting.
* Possession of or intent to obtain a Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g., Cert Ed, PGCE).
* Clear knowledge of the latest Motor Vehicle industry developments.
* Good relational and communication skills.
