Quality Engineer – Automotive Manufacturing
Location: Bristol
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 (Negotiable depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm (40 hours per week)

Their continued growth has created an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team.
The Role
We are seeking a Quality Engineer with proven automotive manufacturing experience, ideally within a Tier 1, Tier 2 or OEM environment. This is a key position reporting to the Manufacturing Director, where you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining a quality-focused culture across the business.
You will lead a team of PDI inspectors and be responsible for ensuring robust quality management systems, process control, supplier quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Quality System Management
Maintain and improve the company’s ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems
Ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements
Auditing
Conduct internal and external audits
Prepare reports and implement corrective actions
Manufacturing Processes and Metalwork
Oversee quality within metal fabrication and assembly
Implement best practices to improve process capability and product consistency
Supplier Control
Monitor and evaluate supplier quality performance
Carry out supplier audits and resolve quality issues collaboratively
Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving
Lead investigations into non-conformances
Use structured methodologies such as 8D, Fishbone and Pareto analysis
Drive corrective and preventive actions
Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement process improvements
Support Lean manufacturing and efficiency initiatives
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate records, audit findings, and performance metrics
Provide regular updates to senior leadership
Skills and Experience Required
Proven experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment, ideally within automotive
Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and experience with auditing processes
Familiarity with metal fabrication, inspection methods, and quality control
Experience in supplier quality management
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, root cause analysis)
Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
