An SEN specialist provision in Paignton for pupils aged 11–16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, often alongside challenging behaviours and other complex needs.
We are looking to appoint resilient, enthusiastic and compassionate Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who want to make a real difference in the lives of young people who have often struggled in mainstream education.

Your Role:
As an LSA, you’ll work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and behaviour support leads to:
* Support pupils with SEMH needs in lessons and during transitions.
* De-escalate and manage challenging behaviour calmly and safely.
* Help deliver individual learning programmes.
* Provide mentoring, structure and emotional support throughout the day.
* Support the development of pupils' social and emotional skills.
* Maintain consistent routines and high expectations.
What You’ll Need:
Essential:
* A genuine interest in working with vulnerable young people.
* Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, firm approach.
* The ability to build trust and establish clear boundaries.
* Resilience and emotional stability under pressure.
* Ability to work as part of a committed, consistent team.
Desirable:
* Experience working in an SEMH or alternative provision.
* Team Teach or similar behaviour training (training can be provided).
* Knowledge of trauma-informed or restorative practice approaches.
* Level 2 or 3 qualification in education, youth work, or care.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
