The primary purpose of this position is to function as the Unit Deployment Manager, ensuring assigned personnel are qualified and ready to meet Air Expeditionary Force requirements.

This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions IAW DoDI 3020-42 Defense Continuity Programs.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Series 0301.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples include knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and precedents affecting deployment operations; knowledge of management and organization principles, including administrative practices, communication channels, delegation of authority, and routing of correspondence; and knowledge of administrative processes and documentation requirements to ensure deployment readiness.

EDUCATION: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) years of higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. LL.B. or J.D. degrees are also applicable if related. Note: You must submit transcripts.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify, provided the total percentage of requirements is at least 100%. Note: Transcripts are required.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable TIG requirements. One year at the GS-07 level is required to qualify for GS-09. TIG applies if you are or were in a GS position within the last 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be assessed based on your knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of methods and procedures for evaluating and performing deployment operations to meet requirements.
2. Knowledge of federal and agency deployment/mobilization concepts, principles, practices, procedures, regulations, and laws.
3. Knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, risk assessment, and evaluation techniques.
4. Knowledge of federal planning policies and guidance.
5. Ability to analyze complex information, make judgments, and evaluate options regarding unit readiness.
6. Ability to recognize inter-relationships in operating programs to evaluate overall status.
Part-Time or Unpaid Experience: Credit is given for relevant unpaid or part-time work. Clearly specify duties and hours per week.
Volunteer Work Experience: Includes paid and unpaid volunteer work through programs like Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, etc. Experience gained here is valuable and creditable.
Education
Using Education to Qualify: Submit transcripts if education is required or used for qualification. Official transcripts are not required initially but are needed prior to appointment if education is a requirement. Education must be from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Foreign Education: Education from foreign institutions may be used if credentials are deemed equivalent to U.S. standards. Provide proof when applying.
