Accounts Assistant - Purchase Ledger
Full-time | Permanent | Edinburgh (Office-based)
Salary: £28,000-£30,000 per annum
We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join a dynamic and growing finance team in Edinburgh, with a primary focus on the purchase ledger. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity offering stability, responsibility, and the chance to be part of a supportive finance function.
Key Responsibilities
1. Processing high volumes of supplier invoices and completing three-way matching against purchase orders and delivery notes
2. Investigating and resolving invoice discrepancies and supplier queries
3. Preparing supplier payment runs and reconciling supplier accounts
4. Supporting month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments, and reporting
5. Maintaining accurate financial records and audit trails
6. Liaising with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to resolve issues efficiently
7. Assisting with finance system improvements and process enhancements
Skills & Experience Required
8. Previous experience in a purchase ledger or accounts assistant role
9. Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
10. Sound understanding of VAT and basic accounting principles
11. Confident using accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
12. Ability to manage deadlines and work independently
13. Part-qualified AAT or studying towards a finance qualification (desirable)
14. Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, NetSuite, or Business Central (advantageous)
