Overview
Throughout this role as a SEND TA, you will be required to support learners on a one-to-one basis in class, and to help within small groups of two to six learners at one time. The day-to-day support includes assisting with social and behavioural needs in addition to academic support. The aim is to help ensure that both the social and learning aspects of education are accessible for all learners regardless of needs or challenges.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team at Greenside Primary School. We are looking to recruit an SEND Teaching Assistant with experience working with high level ASD and other additional special educational needs. We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and patient person who can relate well to children and adults. Good numeracy, literacy and basic ICT skills are required. This role will involve 1:1 support and small group support in the classroom, supporting learners with varied additional needs in a primary setting. The role has a strong focus on behaviour support, alongside assisting with the complex needs demonstrated by the learners. The candidate should be confident with behaviour management, able to de-escalate situations, and also promote a caring and nurturing approach.
Responsibilities
* Provide one-to-one and small group support (two to six learners) in classroom settings.
* Support learners with social, behavioural and learning needs to enable accessible education.
* Apply effective behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques as required.
* Promote a caring and nurturing environment while supporting learners with complex needs.
* Relate to and empathise with pupils to develop trusting, respectful relationships.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience of working with high level ASD and other special educational needs preferred.
* Enthusiastic, committed and patient approach; ability to relate to children and adults.
* Good numeracy, literacy and basic ICT skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to support inclusive practices.

Salary
