Job Title: Area Sales Manager

Reporting to: Sales Manager
Smart4Chemicals are seeking an experienced Territory Manager to drive commercial growth for one of our key clients across the Homecare, Industrial & Institutional (HI&I) and Personal Care sectors within the UK. This role will focus on managing key customer relationships, developing new opportunities, and delivering profitable sales growth across a defined territory.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in expanding market presence by understanding customer needs, identifying opportunities for new products, and building strong partnerships with both customers and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver and exceed agreed sales turnover and gross profit targets across the territory.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, brand owners, and consultant formulators.
* Develop and execute territory sales plans to ensure effective market coverage and customer engagement.
* Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs, providing insights to support strategic planning.
* Prepare monthly performance reports and communicate territory performance against budget.
* Manage customer forecasting, identify demand fluctuations, and report variances to sales leadership.
* Coordinate with internal teams to ensure efficient follow-up on quotations, samples, and customer requests.
* Maintain accurate CRM and opportunity pipeline data, ensuring opportunities are tracked and developed.
* Represent the company at industry exhibitions, seminars, and customer presentations.
* Facilitate joint visits with supplier principals and provide regular account updates to supplier partners.
* Ensure all customer engagement reflects the company’s high standards of service, professionalism, and ethical practice.
Qualifications & Experience
* 5 + years of experience in a customer-facing commercial role within the UK HI&I and Personal Care markets.
* Proven track record of managing a sales territory, delivering revenue targets, and building customer relationships.
* Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
* Experience managing budgets, forecasting, and sales reporting.
* Full UK driving licence required.
Desirable:
* SCS Diploma or relevant industry qualification.
