Faculty/Directorate
You will join the Engagement and Partnerships directorate, comprising of an Engagement and Events Team, Alumni and Philanthropy Team, and a Corporate Communications team. These teams play a critical role in engaging with the University’s most high-profile stakeholders at a strategic level. The team safeguards the reputation of the University whilst celebrating its strengths with a regional, national and global audience through dedicated campaigns, events, and communications. This activity includes extensive engagement with our alumni community and mutually beneficial relationships with influential individuals and trusts and foundations, leading to philanthropic giving.
What you will be doing:
As Philanthropy Officer, you will play a pivotal role in the advancement of the Alumni and Philanthropy team, supporting the delivery of ambitious fundraising targets.
You will lead on the utilisation and management of the alumni and fundraising database, utilise the database and publicly available information to identify, qualify, and approve individuals and organisations with the capacity to become major donors to the University, and facilitate the development and delivery of tailored stewardship activity across all philanthropic income streams.
You will ensure donations are appropriately recorded and regularly update and monitor donations activity and trends on the CRM system, support tailored stewardship of significant major donors, and deliver a range of stewardship communications and events.
Activities and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
1. Acting as the first point of contact for the Alumni and Philanthropy Team on the alumni and fundraising database, leading the day-to-day management of the database and deliver the processing of all data processing requests.
2. Use a data-led approach to conduct prospect research activity, to identify and rate potential philanthropic funders based on wealth, propensity and affinity, and to lead on due diligence reporting for the approval and acceptance of gifts.
3. Be the key contact for all regular giving and legacy queries and ensure that all regular donors and legacy prospects are thanked, and co-develop, monitor and action donor communications and stewardship plans.
4. Work closely with the Philanthropy Leads, tracking prospect relationship development and solicitation against team members’ targets.
5. Manage and monitor processing of donations and ensure that all donors, prospects and appeal data is effectively managed and that processes are followed to ensure accurate and effective recording on the database.
6. To plan, develop and lead the execution of high-quality cultivation and stewardship events, liaising with senior members of staff, HNWI and other influential external stakeholders in a professional nature.
Qualifications/ experience:
7. Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience
8. Desirable for applicants to have a Level 4 qualification
