Overview
The post‑holder will be the named School Nurse for schools within the area, incorporating a supervisory role for staff nurses working within the school nursing service.
Responsibilities
- Work as a member of the School Nursing Service, collaborating with schools, families and the wider community to improve the health of school‑aged children.
- Identify vulnerable children and develop clear referral pathways to enable all children and young people to reach their full potential.
- Deliver requirements from the service specification and work closely with the identified senior manager in each school to provide expert information, guidance and assessments.
- Support schools to empower parents and CYP in health decisions, working across health and education professionals and institutions to break down barriers and improve information sharing.
- Collaborate with the Team Lead to develop appropriate databases, contribute to reports and report any issues or concerns that may arise.
- Lead service delivery under the 5‑19 Healthy Child Programme.
Qualifications & Experience
- Specialist Community Public Health Qualification in School Nursing.
- Post‑graduate experience working within a School Nursing team.
- Adherence to the NMC Code and maintenance of professional responsibilities, including revalidation procedure.
- Active participation in continuing education programmes and responsibility for professional and self‑development.
