Blue Sky Enabling have an exciting job opportunity for experienced female support worker to work in Westbury with a female service user with MND that restricts her movement, although she is able to communicate well verbal. She requires assistance with manual handling, all personal care, fuids and nutrition, medication, ventilation and cough assist, all of which can be managed well without incident following appropriate strategies.
Shift patterns will be based on a fixed rota covering 24hour support 1:1 awake night shifts 8:30pm-8am (£14ph + £1.80ph for complex care) .
As part of our collaborative approach, you will be working under guidance of her care manager, as part of a team with her, her partner and daughter to support her to live a life of her own choosing. This will include supporting her to be actively involved in her personal care and presentation, food preparation, light domestic tasks and community access. You will enable her to engage in home-based activities, and encourage and support her to engage in appropriate community activities, shopping, go out to cafés, day trips, having fun enjoying in indoor and outdoor leisure activities of her own choosing. Working alongside her and her family, you will encourage and support her to maintain a healthy diet and will promote her health and wellbeing. You will enable her to focus on living a full life, respecting issues around capacity to make her own decisions and respecting her entitlement to equality and dignity.
Due to the service user's diagnosis, English is essential and priority will be given to applicants for whom English is their first language. We do not offer sponsorship. Priority will also be given to applicants who have a current DBS on the online update service
You will be supported to undertake and maintain specialist training relevant to this role.
