Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and approachable Behaviour Support Assistant to work with the Head of Years and the wider staff team in ensuring high levels of consistency in behaviour for learning and pupil support across the school. This role is part of the Behaviour/Inclusion Team, a 3-person team with collective responsibility for responding to on-call incidents, managing our centralised sanction system and conducting both proactive and reactive measures to support pupils in developing and owning their positive behaviour attributes. The role focuses on supporting pupils in difficult situations via our on-call system, and also includes planning and leading interventions for pupils identified as needing additional behavioural support, as well as some administrative work to ensure centralised sanctions are managed correctly. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the wider school community, staff and parents in supporting student progress and behaviour for learning across the school.
Responsibilities
* Respond to on-call incidents and provide immediate support to pupils and staff.
* Plan and lead interventions for pupils identified as needing additional behavioural support.
* Contribute to the management of the centralised sanctions system.
* Provide proactive and reactive support to students and teachers to promote positive behaviour for learning.
* Engage with the school community, staff and parents to support student progress and behaviour across the school.
Qualifications and Skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with students, staff and parents on a day-to-day basis.
* A desire to support pupils to achieve their best both in and out of the classroom, with a "never give up" attitude.
* A calming presence across the school, showing empathy in tough situations, and responding with a kind but firm approach.
* Excellent communication skills, a good sense of humour and sound administrative skills.
