Associate Lecturers in Cardiac OR Respiratory Sleep Physiology
Sheffield Hallam University is seeking experienced and passionate Cardiac Physiologists and Respiratory & Sleep Physiologists to join our dynamic team of Clinical Educators as flexible part time hours Associate Lecturers.
Main duties of the job
In these flexible, part-time roles, you will support students and apprentices on nationally recognised healthcare science programmes, including the Higher Degree Apprenticeship and Graduate Diploma. Working closely with learners and NHS Trusts across England, you'll guide clinical development through online support, tripartite reviews, university-based teaching, and assessment of e-portfolios.

Teaching andLearning
Design and deliver, high quality and challenginglearning experiences that equip students with the skills and knowledgerequired by employers.
Teach specifically identified subjects and topicsrelated to a defined area of work.
Provide effective and efficient teaching to approvedcourses through lecture, seminar or tutorial modes of delivery.
Provide ongoing assessment and feedback to studentsby setting and marking coursework, assignments and examinations.
Contribute to the development of resource material.
Ensure that appropriate learning materials areprepared in advance of delivery and assignments are undertaken by students ina timely manner
Keep up-to-date with knowledge of your subject area.
Student Support
Develop a sense of purpose and harmonious workingwithin assigned student groups.
Provide appropriate academic, technical and pastoralcare by supporting the work of individual students and referring them whereappropriate, to relevant support staff.
Act, when required, as tutor to a group of students,providing effective academic, technical and pastoral care.

Person Specification
Experience
* Well developed and current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical and theoretical issues relevant;
* current Respiratory and/or sleep clinical physiologist/ Cardiac Physiologist /current Healthcare science Practitioner/Clinical Scientist or have recognised clinical experience in one of these areas.
* Well-developed and current knowledge and understanding of respiratory physiology and sleep services including current sleep diagnostics and airways support therapies & treatments
* Or
* Well developed and current knowledge and understanding of non invasive and invasive cardiology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including cardiac catheterisation and echocardiography
* Ability to inspire, enthuse and connect with a range of stakeholders e.g. students and external clients from a wide range of backgrounds
* Ability to design and deliver transformative and innovative learning experiences
* Excellent numerical and quantitative skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent team working skills and the ability to establish good working relationships
* Excellent planning and organisational skills and the ability to manage conflicting demands and meet deadlines
* Teaching experience within a higher education context
* Knowledge of how information technology can support educational delivery and learning
* Undertaking professional or academic project work e.g. research, creative or industrial projects, scholarship and / or knowledge transfer
Qualifications
* Good honours degree (i.e. UK 2.1 or 1st Class), or equivalent professional qualification or experience in a relevant discipline
* Qualified cardiac physiologist or Respiratory and Sleep Physiologist with one or more of the following:
* Registered with the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS),
* or
* Clinical scientist in cardiology or respiratory and sleep, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
* Doctorate or postgraduate qualification e.g. Master and / or substantial professional experience in a relevant discipline
* Teaching/Assessment Qualification
Other relevant information
* Willingness to work flexibly including some weekends and evenings, e.g. to support open days (occasional)
* Willingness to travel in UK and overseas (occasional)
