MDM Props, a global leader in art manufacture, scenic construction, model making, and prop making, invites applications for a Health & Safety Manager. This full‑time, permanent role is based at our Greenwich workshop in London and offers a salary of £40k‑£50k.
About the Role
The Health & Safety Manager will lead the company's Health & Safety function, promote a proactive safety culture across the enterprise, and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
Responsibilities
* Lead the company‑wide Health & Safety strategy, ensuring compliance with legislation and embedding a positive safety culture across all areas of the business.
* Provide expert guidance to the Operations Director, senior management, and departmental leads on Health & Safety matters.
* Oversee annual reviews of Health & Safety, fire safety, and emergency plans.
* Lead monthly safety committee meetings, driving actions, accountability, and continuous improvement.
* Develop, implement, and regularly update Health & Safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in line with current legislation and industry best practice.
* Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including machinery safety, COSHH, LEV, LOLER, DSE, fire safety, and first aid.
* Liaise with regulatory agencies, external auditors, and insurers as required.
* Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of inspections and risk assessments.
Qualifications
* Significant experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within a manufacturing, workshop, or production environment.
* Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, best practice, and risk management principles.
* Clear and confident communicator, capable of engaging effectively at all levels of the organisation.
* Motivated, proactive, and able to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
* Adaptable and comfortable in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment.
* Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Positive, solutions‑focused mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities.
* NEBOSH or IOSH qualification essential; NEBOSH Diploma (or working toward) preferred.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook required).
* First Aid at Work and Fire Marshal certificates preferred (training available if needed).
