About Care is Central
Care is Central was created by Central Bedfordshire Council in 2020 to deliver high quality adult social care, and in 2023 Care is Central Residential was created to operate care homes.
Due to continued growth Care is Central and Care is Central Residential is now looking for up to two new Non-Executive Directors to join our joint Board.

Requirements of a Non-Executive Director:
We are looking for a diverse range of skills and applicants will, ideally but not exclusively, be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge and experience including:
* Care Sector Specific Knowledge
* Commercial operation of care homes / Independent Living Schemes
* Commercial growth in the care or similarly regulated sector
* Regulatory Supervision or CQC Regulation
* Understanding of working with local council owned businesses
* Senior HR experience, specifically supporting people through change.
All candidates will also be expected to demonstrate
* A notable track record of strategic leadership
* Knowledge and understanding of assessing and managing risks
* Ability to understand financial information and business planning
* An understanding of the principles of good governance including knowledge of the Nolan Principles
* The ability to analyse and use a wide range of material
* Be independent, professional and ethical
* Ability to contribute to discussion and debate and to offer constructive challenge whilst accepting accountability for collective decision making
* Ability to work as an effective team to take strategic decisions
Activities of a Non-Executive Director
* Participation in an induction programme to become familiar with the business and workings of a board
* Regular attendance at and preparation for Board and other meetings, board meetings are held bi- monthly
* Meetings are held virtually (mostly) and in person (occasionally)
* Attendance at training events
* Attendance at significant Company events - i.e. strategy setting days
* Visits to Care is Central sites to see the impact of our work
* Participation in appraisals and attendance at personal development events
Remuneration / Expenses
The role is modestly remunerated, and you will be able to claim reasonable expenses in accordance with the companies' expenses policy.
