Salary: £46,800 + Call Out + Overtime + Pension + Healthcare + Bonus + Company Car – potential earnings of £60-£85k (inclusive of call out & overtime)

The Company
My client is one of the UK's leading manufacturers of turnkey machinery automation solutions to a wide variety of industries. The company has been established for over 70 years and currently employs over 12,000 people worldwide; they have become a centre of excellence within automated process machinery in the FMCG industry. Due to further expansion within the British market, they need to recruit an additional field service engineer with mechanical service and commissioning experience.
The Role
The role of Field Service Engineer is to install, commission and fault‑find on a wide range of Labelling Machinery. A customer‑facing role, field‑based requiring travel to customer premises as and when required and potentially at short notice. The role is highly technical and a background in mechanical engineering is essential, and the ability to build strong working relationships with customers will be key to success.
Role & Responsibility
* Installation and commissioning of individual machines in production lines.
* Spare parts surveys of individual machines.
* Maintenance and overhauling of machines with commissioning.
* Installation of change parts and upgrades with commissioning.
* Identifying, eliminating and documenting malfunctions in consultation with technical and design departments.
* Conduct training of customer staff on machine operation following installation.
* Instructing and training of apprentices.
* Reporting & feedback (service reports, travel reports, warranty reports, etc.).
* Willingness to learn new technologies and techniques.
* Work independently as well as part of a team.
* Adhere to customer‑specific guidelines and safety instructions.
Experience and Qualifications
* Time‑served engineer, ideally HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
* Previous experience in the food & beverage industry and filling/packaging equipment preferable but not essential.
* Previous experience of field‑based work preferable but not essential.
* Good level of computer literacy and IT skills, experience with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
* Strong fault‑finding capability with flexibility to consider different solutions, thinking outside the box.
