Associate Director/Technical Director - Building Performance Modelling Lead - West (Building Services) at WSP

WSP are seeking an Associate Director/Technical Director - Building Performance Modelling Lead for the Western region to support the delivery of sustainable building solutions on high profile projects and major frameworks as part of a growing national team. This role will be based from either our Bristol or Cardiff offices for at least three days per week.


What you will do

* Lead the delivery of sustainable building solutions, supporting the UK Properties & Buildings business delivering sustainability leadership and coordination on major projects.
* Lead the sustainable building design with a particular focus on building performance modelling for a diverse portfolio of projects; act as the sustainability lead for your own projects.
* Develop the approach for sustainability across significant portfolios and major frameworks.
* Increase WSP’s profile in the industry, help secure new work and improve the quality and technical knowledge relating to sustainable design.
* Undertake business development activities including attending B2B meetings with clients and professionals and attending industry events; leverage existing client relationships across the UK.
* Understand and support the client’s brief in matters of sustainability and translate aspirations into practicable delivery models.
* Coordinate sustainability delivery across design teams and stakeholders internally and externally.
* Identify opportunities for cross-selling of services and coordinate with WSPs experts across other teams within the business.
* Support the growth of the existing team through recruitment and development of staff.
* Prepare high quality reports that clearly communicate issues and conclusions.
* Understand and apply current UK sustainability legislation to project solutions at all levels of governance.


What we will be looking for you to demonstrate

* Expert knowledge of and experience in delivering building performance modelling, including minimum Part L compliance, TM52 and TM59 overheating assessments and TM54 operational energy assessments.
* Understanding of energy strategy development for complex, multi-use developments.
* Understanding and experience in Net Zero, Low Carbon Design and materials.
* Understanding and experience in managing internal and project budgets.
* Bid support and commercial acumen in work-winning activities.
* Knowledge of the construction process and the implications of sustainable design.
* Understanding of BREEAM and other environmental assessment methodologies.
* Understanding of current UK planning policies related to sustainability and Net Zero targets.
* Ability to communicate complex technical information to clients and colleagues, both technical and non-technical.
* Presentation skills and time management.
* Able to coordinate and provide training to junior consultants.
* Must be able to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC).


Qualifications

* Degree in engineering, environmental, architectural or sustainability-related subject.
* Membership of a related professional institution and on the path to Chartered status (engineer, scientist, energy manager or environmentalist).
* Low carbon energy assessor (LCEA).
* NABERS assessor.
