The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Occupational Health & Wellbeing team in the provision of Occupational Health
& Wellbeing services for the health board and other external contracts.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
Are you looking for a new opportunity to use your skills and work as part of a team who look after employees in the workplace?
As a registered nurse working in Occupational Health and Wellbeing you will be responsible for supporting the team in the provision of services for the health board and other external contracts. Undertaking routine planned health assessment and surveillance and providing a high standard of care and advice in relation to specific occupational health requirements. Examples of activity include:
* Employment screening, vaccination
* Advice on Infection control and occupational and lifestyle health matters
* Supporting health and wellbeing activities such as health road shows / flu vaccination campaign
* Health surveillance such as vision screening, lung function screening, audiometry.
You will need to have effective communication skills to establish and maintain good personal relationships with clients, the team and others. You will be responsible for ensuring confidentiality; diplomacy and discretion are maintained at all times.
Working hours are Monday to Friday 08.30 – 17.00 and are likely to be over a 4/5 day working pattern, subject to flexibility to assist cover for core activity e.g. late / early shifts for flu / annual leave cover. it is likely that the post will involve cover at other occupational health locations within BCUHB.

* UK NMC Registered Nurse

* Occupational Heath experience

* Experience working with the NHS post registered nurse qualification
Desirable criteria
* Experience in an Occupational health / screening setting.
* Evidence of applying health & wellbeing advice
Essential Criteria
Skills (including those physical skills necessary for the post)
* Ability to provide independent confidential advice on health issues
* Communicate effectively with all levels of staff within the health board, and outside agencies and external contracts
* Maintain client records through data input and clear written documentation
* Work within set predetermined standards, liaison with the multidisciplinary team as necessary and contribute to a team approach of care to meet departmental deadlines
* Able to apply knowledge and adhere to health board policies & procedures
* Periodically provide initial support and for staff in a distressed state.
* Ability to convey health information to both individuals and present to groups of clients
Desirable criteria
* Previous experience in giving advice
* Previous experience in a multidisciplinary role
* Use of word-processing / computer packages Previous experience of working without supervision
* Experience of applying occupational health guidance
* Previous experience of counselling and knowledge of multidisciplinary agencies
* Able to speak Welsh
* Experience of presentational skills for both individual and group training
Knowledge

* General lifestyle advice for promotion of well-being e.g. diet, alcohol, smoking etc.
* Administration of injections and awareness of emergency controls and intervention
Desirable criteria
* Experience of giving general lifestyle advice to clients
* Experience of undertaking Immunisation programs / serological screening and taking blood samples
* Ability to write and implement standards of care
