The Business Intelligence Analyst will provide a crucial role in transforming raw data into actionable insights to guide strategic business decisions. Working in The National Archives’ Service Transformation Department, attached predominately to the Request a Military Service Record (RAMSR) project, they will identify trends, create data visualisations in the form of dashboards and reports, and monitor KPIs using Dynamics 365 and Power BI. A key focus will be maintaining compliance under the Freedom of Information (FOI) act and monitoring full-cost recovery following the introduction of fees. To support this, this role will ensure maximum intelligence is derived from cross-organisational data collection.
The Business Intelligence Analyst will lead the integration of data from multiple sources and the application of analytical techniques to produce forecasts, performance insights and resource‑planning models. They will work with autonomy to provide recommendations for improving business performance in response to the evolving demand for TNA services. This work will particularly support forecasting around request volume, capacity modelling, and operational planning, ensuring services are equipped for changing future requirements.
This is a full time post. However, requests for part-time working, flexible working and job share will be considered, taking into account at all times the operational needs of the Department. A combination of onsite and home working is available and applicants should be able to regularly travel to our Kew site for a minimum of 60% of their work time.

* Significant experience deriving BI from complex and diverse datasets and using insights to inform strategic decision-making.
* Academic and/or professional qualification in business analytics, data analysis, data science or similar, or equivalent experience.
* Advanced skills in manipulating, analysing, and modelling large datasets, with proficiency in D365, Excel, Power BI, and additional analytical tools.
* Demonstratable ability to communicate technical findings to non‑technical and senior audiences.
* Advanced quantitative and qualitative analytical expertise.Experience or understanding of the application of artificial intelligence within a BI context.
* Excellent consultative capability and organisational skills including monitoring and data‑quality control.
* Proven ability to work autonomously and lead a portfolio of BI work.
* Knowledge or experience of Information Rights or compliance would be an advantage.
