About the Role
As a Cyber Security Apprentice, you'll play a hands‑on role in helping to protect the organisation’s digital systems and data. Working closely with the IT and Security teams, you'll support the day‑to‑day monitoring of network activity using tools like Microsoft Sentinel or FortiSIEM to help detect and respond to potential threats.
You’ll assist in investigating security incidents, helping with risk assessments, and running vulnerability scans to identify and fix weaknesses. Your work will also involve supporting the management of firewalls, antivirus solutions, and software updates to keep systems secure and up to date.
Throughout the role, you’ll collaborate with teams across the organisation including Legal and third‑party vendors to ensure a consistent and joined‑up approach to cyber security. This is a great opportunity to build real‑world experience while learning the fundamentals of cyber defence in a supportive environment.
About you
You'll be keen to build a career in cyber security and have a strong interest in IT and technology. You’re proactive, eager to learn, and able to work well with others as part of a wider team. To be successful in this role you should have:
* GCSEs at grade A*C (49) or equivalent in English and Maths
* A commitment to completing a recognised Cyber Security apprenticeship
* A willingness to develop both personally and professionally as the role evolves
* An ITIL Foundation Certificate, or a willingness to complete it after your probationary period
* Some foundational knowledge or understanding of cyber security concepts, such as threats, vulnerabilities, or common security tools and practices
While this is a learning role, having a basic grasp of cyber security principles will help you hit the ground running and make the most of the apprenticeship.
Benefits
You will be welcomed into a friendly environment where your personal and professional development will be encouraged. You will have the opportunity to work and grow in a people‑centred and values‑based organisation that promotes a positive permission culture. Your opinions matter so you will have the opportunity to shape how we do things here at Trafford.
