1 Permanent post and 1 x 12 month secondment.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for both a permanent Band 7 post and a Band 7 secondment post within the Structural Specialist Nurse Team. The post holder should have extensive Cardiology experience at a senior level and an understanding of the SpN services within the department.
The post holder should hold a First level degree in Nursing and be willing to, or have masters level study. They should ideally have, or be working towards, both non-medical prescribing and clinical skills.
Main duties of the job
The main aspects of the role are to provide equitable care to patients in relation to management and treatment of their valvular heart disease across the whole patient pathway. This is a busy and varied role that has a huge impact on patient care and service delivery.
The nurse provides support, information and advice to patients, carers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, enhancing service provision and streamlining patient-focused care.

Person specification
Knowledge
* Extensive nursing experience in a cardiology setting
* Advanced knowledge in cardiology and management of cardiology patients
* Clinical & leadership skills in specialty using high-level analysis and judgment skills to manage patients effectively
Qualifications
* Registered General Nurse
* Non-medical prescribing (or willing to work towards)
* MSc in relevant area - with nursing focus or within specialist field preferred (or willing to work towards)
* Postgraduate physical assessment and examination skills (or willing to work towards)
* Formal teaching qualification (willing to work towards)
* Leadership course
Experience
* Experience and knowledge of working within cardiology
* A record of innovation in clinical practice
* Experience of providing counselling to patients/relatives and supporting staff
* Experience of working collaboratively with MDT professionals
* Experience of running independent nurse-led clinics
* Experience of cross-boundary working
