This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, experienced and dedicated individual to join the Medicine Care Group as Senior Operational Manager. There are 2 full time positions available, the portfolio areas are 1) Acute care including Same day emergency care and urgent treatment centres, 2) Elderly, stroke, frailty and palliative care. We are a supportive, ambitious and forward-thinking Care Group and we are looking for an individual who is passionate about improving services, has substantial proven operational experience and has a track record in service improvement and development.
The role will be varied and provide opportunities for the post holder to be involved with both local, regional and national initiatives. Both roles are cross site and cover services delivered at our York Hospital and Scarborough Hospital site.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will manage a team of Operational Service Managers and will support the operational teams to deliver against key targets. The role has responsibility for maintaining operational oversight of a portfolio of specialties and delivering a number of key transformation projects.
The post holder will work closely with the General Manager, Associate Chief Operating Officer, Clinical Director and leads, Associate Chief Nurse, Associate Chief AHP, Head of Nursing and Matrons to ensure our services are operating effectively for our patients.
We are looking for a leader who has the ability to influence at all levels within the organisation and beyond, is able to provide direction and motivation to the team and has a strong background in operational management. Qualifications
Essential criteria
9. Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or experience
10. Post graduate qualification / or equivalent experience.
11. Evidence of continued professional development
12. A willingness and aptitude to undertake further training as required to carry out the role
Desirable criteria
13. NHS Management experience at band 7 level or above or equivalent
14. Recognised higher level qualification / masters (e.g. MBA, MA) / post graduate qualification in a relevant area or masters level equivalent experience.

15. Significant experience of the Acute or Community Health Provider sector with previous experience of working at senior management level
16. Experience of change management, policy development, organisational change, service development
17. Demonstrable experience of budgetary and financial management skills
18. Evidence of an in-depth knowledge of NHS priorities, processes and operational issues
19. Experience of managing or supervising of junior staff
