Overview

Ward C33 in the Queens Centre has a 6 month secondment opportunity for a committed, experienced and aspiring nurse to join an established enthusiastic nursing team who already provide high standards of holistic nursing care to patients with cancer who have a variety of medical, nursing and psychological needs.

The ward junior sister/charge nurse will be a motivated enthusiastic person with excellent leadership and communication skills, they will be a role model leading the team by example to deliver caring compassionate end of life care to the patients. The ward junior sister/charge nurse will be an inclusive proactive member of the senior nursing team within specialist services.

The ward junior sister/charge nurse will be able to work to their own initiative leading, developing, improving and monitoring standards of care to ensure safety for all patients and staff. The ward junior sister/charge nurse will work collaboratively with the members of the multidisciplinary team to provide a quality service for our patients. They should have a good understanding of the Queens Centre and understand the workings of Ward 33 and the JACIE regulations. The successful candidate will be SACT competent and hold a communication course certificate. The new post holder will be supported in their role and will be given the opportunity to achieve their full potential as a competent and effective ward junior sister/charge nurse.


Responsibilities

* Lead and model compassionate, patient‑centred care and end of life care for cancer patients with diverse medical, nursing and psychological needs.
* Provide leadership and direction to the nursing team on Ward C33, ensuring safe and high standards of care.
* Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver a quality service for patients and to monitor and improve standards of care.
* Contribute to the development and improvement of care processes, while maintaining safety for all patients and staff.
* Ensure alignment with Queens Centre practices, Ward 33 operations and JACIE regulations.
* Demonstrate SACT competence and maintain required competencies and certifications (e.g., communication course).


Qualifications

* SACT competency and a valid communication course certificate.
* Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to work to own initiative and lead a team.
* Good understanding of the Queens Centre, Ward 33 operations, and JACIE regulations.
* Experience in delivering holistic nursing care and end of life care to oncology patients.
