The Role
North Lakes Children’s Services is a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged [age range]. We aim to improve resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of all young people we work with.
Our school is now an Accredited SILVER Award Attachment and Trauma Sensitive School, and we gained our first Outstanding Ofsted inspection.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will enhance the learning of pupils with a wide range of special educational and learning needs. You will support teaching staff to enable pupils to gain independence, participate fully in the curriculum, and engage in school life. This role is based at Herdley Bank School.
Duties will include:
* Supporting pupils in various settings including classroom, lunch, and break times
* Accompanying pupils on organized school visits
* Assisting with social skills and behavior development in collaboration with the SENDCo
* Participating in developing, delivering, and monitoring individual programs
* Supporting pupils with challenging behaviors
* Resolving issues causing anxiety or emotional responses
* Maintaining accurate records
* Collaborating with teaching staff for effective support
* Supporting curriculum delivery and working groups
* Working as part of a flexible team and attending meetings and training
All Applicants must have:
* Relevant experience or qualifications
* Academic qualifications at least GCSE level, NVQ level, or demonstrated competency
* Basic first aid knowledge
* Ability to work independently and accurately
* Good time management and interpersonal skills
* Excellent communication skills
* Willingness to undertake training
* Knowledge of child development and learning methods; knowledge of childhood trauma is beneficial
* Access to a vehicle and a full driving license
* Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check
