The Opportunity
Red Sector Recruitment is proud to be working with a well-established independent veterinary practice in West Sussex that is continuing to expand, including the opening of a new branch. This growth has created the need for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon (5+ years) to join their friendly and highly supportive team.
This practice is known for putting staff wellbeing first, with a dedicated leadership team that actively listens and adapts to ensure a positive working environment. Team retention is excellent, with many long-standing members of staff and a collaborative culture focused on delivering outstanding patient care.
The Role
* Full-time Veterinary Surgeon position (flexible 8 or 10-hour shifts)
* 15-minute consults as standard, with longer appointments for complex cases
* Protected admin time built into the diary
* 1 in 6 Saturdays (on average), with time off in lieu
* Supported by an experienced team of Veterinary Nurses
* Overnight inpatient care covered by a dedicated night nurse
The Exotics Caseload
A standout feature of this role is the large and diverse exotics caseload, making it ideal for someone with a strong interest or experience in this area.
* Wide range of species including small mammals, reptiles, snakes, birds, and even fish
* Dedicated exotics facilities including consult rooms, waiting area, and wards
* Advanced equipment including CT and a ventilator to support complex procedures
* Combination of first opinion and referral work, with increasing referrals from other practices Seasonal services such as a tortoise hibernation (brumation) programme
* Opportunity to work alongside colleagues with a strong interest in exotics
This role has become available due to continued growth in the exotics caseload, creating a need to expand the team and maintain the high level of care provided.
Salary & Benefits
* £50,000 – £65,000 FTE (DOE)
