Family Liaison Officer
Fair Ways is a leading children’s services charity based in the Solent, delivering fostering, education, residential and family services and caring for over 400 children, families, young people and vulnerable adults each year. Where and when do we need you?
To support the exciting expansion of Fair Ways education provision we are looking for a Family Liaison Officer to work across all our education sites. We specialise in social, emotional and mental health difficulties and autism. Students have complex and additional needs and will be placed with Fair Ways when mainstream or specialist schools have been unable to meet their needs.
Role
* Early Intervention – Home visits to support attendance and behaviour issues.
* Education and Support – Provide training on healthy routines, sleep hygiene, attendance and healthy living.
* Family Engagement – Facilitate face‑to‑face opportunities such as coffee mornings and parent evenings.
* Improving Attendance – Provide remote support and review attendance strategies.
* Community Support – Signpost families to local community support groups and services.
* Recording and Reporting – Record and report all activity accurately within required timeframes.
* Keeping Students Safe – Report safeguarding concerns within required timeframes.
* Ensuring Effective Professional Boundaries – Maintain safe and respectful relationships.
* Being a Trauma‑Informed Professional – Provide trauma‑informed responses during crisis situations.
The working location is across Fair Ways schools (Totton, Eastleigh, Fareham and Swanwick). The base will be the most local school. The role is 37.5 hours per week, term‑time only. A full driving licence and access to a car is required. VISA sponsorship is not available. An enhanced DBS disclosure is required.
You and your specialisms
Required
* Experience of working in a family engagement role.
* Experience within an educational environment.
* The ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships and engage complex young people.
* Secure knowledge of safeguarding practices.
* Minimum Level 2 in English and Maths.
