Financial Accountant (Band 7) – 3‑Month Contract
Duration: 3 months, until end of April
Location: Surrey On‑site minimum 2 days per week
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Financial Accountant to support a NHS orginisation. This is a key short‑term assignment where you will play an integral role providing support for year-end processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure the Trust meets all statutory and mandatory external financial reporting requirements.
2. Ensure compliance with VAT legislation and provide VAT advice to Trust managers.
3. Manage month‑end processes, prioritising workload to meet tight deadlines.
4. Support year‑end close, reporting and liaising with external auditors.
5. Lead monthly balance sheet reconciliations relating to the managed service.
6. Ensure interfaces and supporting financial information are fully reconciled.
7. Produce accurate monthly financial reporting, investigating discrepancies and preparing journals as required.
8. Maintain accurate and timely financial data entry for the managed service, including journal postings and invoice raising.
9. Manage annual stocktakes and related reconciliations across sites and systems, working closely with operational managers.
10. Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate recording and updates.
11. Provide high‑level financial and analytical information using the Trust’s Oracle Finance system and BI reporting tools.
About You
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
12. Strong financial accounting experience, ideally within the NHS.
13. Ability to work independently and confidently, with good judgement around when to seek senior guidance.
14. Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
15. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge and advise managers.
16. Availability to work on‑site at least 2 days per week.
