The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is searching for a Geotechnical Engineer (Geophysicist) to support and enhance our project delivery team. What will you be doing as our new Geotechnical Engineer (Geophysicist) ? You will be given support and guidance from the Geophysics Advisor in delivery, and work in collaboration with Geotechnical Engineers and other disciplines to develop and detail appropriate solutions adopting the principles of excellence in design. Y Your primary contribution will be to the ground investigation programme. Key responsibilities: Undertake desk studies, ground investigations and GI site supervision Checking the contractors Factual Report and producing the Interpretative report. Work with the relevant lead team members to ensure that all technical deliverables are properly checked and approved. A willingness to travel and undertake field-based assignments including supervising GI contractors to ensure technical quality Ensures that the principles of design safety are incorporated in all designs A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours: This job might be for you if you have: A strong academic background with a relevant degree (MSc or equivalent geophysical experience) Demonstrable field experience in a range of geophysical field techniques, such as, but not limited to, shallow seismics, electrical, electromagnetic and magnetic techniques Experience with geophysical processing software such as, Res2DInv, Seisimager, SurfSeis, Geolitix etc. and / or open-source applications. Experience with geophysical and generic GIS visualisation software (e.g., Oasis montaj, Leapfrog, Civils 3D, Paraview, etc.) Excellent communication skills and has the confidence to translate the needs of clients, specify techniques for our contractors, and communicate findings with non-geophysicists. Proactive and with a practical nature.
