Supply Desk is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Great Missenden to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Transition Teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils during a key stage in their education, helping them adjust smoothly between year groups or phases.
This role would suit a passionate and adaptable teacher with a strong understanding of the primary curriculum, who is committed to delivering engaging lessons and providing tailored support to ensure pupils feel confident and ready for their next stage of learning.
The Role
As a Transition Teacher, you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils as they move between year groups or key stages, helping to bridge gaps in learning and ensure a smooth and confident progression.
Key Responsibilities
* Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons to support pupils’ transition between year groups or key stages
* Identifying and addressing gaps in learning, particularly in core subjects (reading, writing, and maths)
* Supporting pupils’ emotional and academic readiness for their next stage of education
* Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, using data to inform targeted interventions
* Creating a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment
* Building pupils’ confidence, independence, and resilience
* Providing targeted support for pupils of varying abilities, including those with SEN
* Working closely with class teachers, SENCo, and leadership to support continuity
* Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and staff
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Desirable
* Experience teaching within Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2
* Strong understanding of the primary curriculum
* Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
* A flexible, nurturing, and adaptable teaching style
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to work full-time in Great Missenden from September
Desirable
* Experience supporting pupils during transitions between key stages
* Knowledge of intervention strategies and gap analysis
* Experience supporting pupils with additional needs (SEN)
* Strong understanding of assessment and pupil progress tracking
