Lead HV Electrical Engineer
Contract - Inside IR35
Glasgow- Hybrid working
Roles and Responsibilities
You will be involved in typical substation design activities from FEED / Development through to Detailed Design, including:
* Providing leadership on FEED and detailed design workstreams.
* Ensuring quality assurance and delivery of FEED, detailed design, and bids.
* Managing resources and training requirements to deliver FEED and detailed design projects effectively.
* Reviewing HV plant aspects including layouts, earthing design and reports, mechanical interlocking, HV busbar calculations, and equipment specifications.
* Coordinating with back-office engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers as needed.
* Managing tender packages as a tender manager and preparing HV plant technical offers.
* Leading and participating in design reviews and hazard review meetings, including reviewing HV plant design packages.
* Attending site visits, FATs, and SATs where required.
* Demonstrating strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Maintaining a customer-focused approach while identifying client needs and supporting business development.
Requirements
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline, with Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it).
* Minimum of 8 years’ experience within an electrical engineering discipline, including at least 5 years working on National Grid or SSEN Transmission projects in the UK.
* Proven professional experience in HV and LV systems, with knowledge of substations/primary plant at 132kV, 275kV, and 400kV.
* Skilled in preparing design calculations, reports, and detailed drawings.
* Strong leadership and management capabilities to lead teams and deliver complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
