Job summary

Clinical support worker, Band 3, 75 hours available.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work on AMU at the Cumberland Infirmary. an Emergency Medical Assessment Unit covering a variety of specialities including cardiology, respiratory, gastro, elderly care, haematology and renal.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will work in support of the registered nursing team in providing the fundamentals of care for our patients. You will be expected to undertake the Care Certificate to enhance your knowledge and the care that you provide.

The role requires staff to work days, nights and weekends.

Person Specification


Qualifications – Essential

* Level 3 vocational qualification or short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties.
* Theoretical knowledge.
* Experience of a range of care and related procedures.
* Clinical observations.
* Knowledge of data protection legislation and health and safety at work legislation.
* National care certificate or commitment to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment.
* Numeracy and literacy level 2.


Qualifications – Desirable

* Undertaken relevant additional training for clinical support workers care (willingness to complete within one year of start date) or equivalent experience.


Knowledge and Experience – Essential

* Experience in health and social care.
* Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalating changes or findings.
* Working knowledge of legislation underpinning care provision.
* Understanding of the importance of robust, accurate, clear and timely documentation.
* Insight into behaviours and skills of a carer and the need for effective teamwork.
* Knowledge of safeguarding.
* Understanding work‑related boundaries.
* Awareness of GDPR and the need for confidentiality.


Knowledge and Experience – Desirable

* Familiarity with current NHS and social care policies.
* Computer skills.
* Clinical policies and procedures.
* Evidence of understanding of trust business.
* Experience of working in the trust previously.
