Job Title: Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)

Location: South East England (multi-county provision – including outreach and remote coordination)

Contract Type: Full-time

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Start Date: 1st September 2026


About EFWS

We are a dynamic and growing alternative provision tuition service dedicated to supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Operating across multiple counties in the South East of England, we provide personalised, trauma-informed education that prioritises both academic progress and holistic wellbeing.


Our approach centres on building trusting relationships, nurturing emotional resilience, and creating bespoke learning pathways that enable every young person to thrive.


We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator in the South East of England. Our goal is to support children and young people who have become disengaged from mainstream education, helping them rediscover their love for learning and to build a brighter future.


The Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate SENCO to lead and coordinate our SEND provision across our multi-county service. This is a strategic and hands-on role, ideal for someone committed to inclusive education and innovative alternative provision.


You will play a key role in ensuring high-quality, compliant, and impactful support for learners with diverse needs, working closely with tutors, families, local authorities, and external professionals.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead on SEND strategy, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice
* Oversee and maintain EHCP processes, annual reviews, and documentation
* Assess and identify student needs, supporting the development of tailored education plans
* Provide guidance, training, and support to tutors delivering SEN and SEMH provision
* Liaise with local authorities, schools, carers, and multi-agency professionals
* Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions and provision
* Support safeguarding and wellbeing practices across the service
* Contribute to the development of holistic, therapeutic approaches to learning


What We're Looking For

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and National Award for SEN Coordination (or working towards)
* Proven experience working with SEN and/or SEMH children and young people
* Strong knowledge of EHCP processes and SEND legislation
* Experience in alternative provision, outreach, or non-traditional settings is highly desirable
* A compassionate, flexible, and solution-focused approach
* Excellent communication and multi-agency collaboration skills
* Ability to work independently across a dispersed geographical area
