Overview
The apprenticeship focuses on Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (light vehicle) Level 3. Under supervision, you will develop skills in diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, and customer service while gaining hands-on experience with Stellantis products and services.
Responsibilities
* Assist senior technicians in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical and electrical systems
* Learn to perform routine maintenance tasks, including inspections, lubrication, and adjustments
* Participate in equipment installations and upgrades under supervision
* Develop proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues accurately
* Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of service requests and projects
* Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
* Document service activities, including work performed, parts used, and customer interactions
* Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills and product knowledge
* Communicate effectively with customers to address inquiries, explain service procedures, and provide recommendations
* Assist with inventory management, including tracking parts and supplies used during service operations
* Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop; segregate waste for disposal or recycling; comply with environmental legislation
* Demonstrate due regard for own safety and that of others in the workshop and minimize risk of injury and vehicle damage
* Carry out fundamental tasks associated with removal and replacement procedures on a vehicle
* Obtain diagnostic and repair information and interpret diagnostic information using electrical wiring diagrams to determine system serviceability
* Use a range of diagnostic equipment and follow recognised diagnostic procedures to establish faults
* Report faults using company procedures and recommend suitable further actions
* Follow recognised repair procedures to complete a wide range of repairs
* Test the function of repaired and fitted components
* Adhere to business processes and complete documentation following workplace procedures
* Use ICT to create emails, word-process documents and carry out web-based searches
* Complete a range of services and inspect and prepare a vehicle to the required quality standard for handover to the customer
Qualifications
* GCSE English (Grade 4 or above) and Maths (Grade 4 or above) or equivalent
* Communication skills, IT skills, attention to detail, organisation, problem solving, analytical skills, and team working
Training Schedule
* Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (light vehicle) Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard: The programme lasts at least 36 months (3 years) and leads to a nationally recognised qualification.
* All apprentices are employed through the dealer network and attend week-long block training at a state-of-the-art training centre in Coventry.
* Block training is complemented by regular coaching visits, virtual classroom sessions, and e-learning modules.
* Your development is supported throughout the apprenticeship journey, with learning focused on achieving a qualification recognised across the motor industry.
* This apprenticeship provides the foundation to develop your career with opportunities to progress within the dealer network after successful completion.
* Before the Standard is met, apprentices must hold a certificate that meets the EU 2014 F-gas regulation requirements.
* This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience, technical expertise, and knowledge of Stellantis products and services.
Additional Details
* Salary: £15,704 for the first year, with potential increases based on age
* Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm (40 hours/week)
* Start date: Monday 24 November 2025
* Duration: 3 years
