Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are looking to recruit a Waste Management Officer to join our team based in Stowmarket, Suffolk. You will join us on a full-time, fixed term or secondment opportunity for 2 years. The successful candidate will earn a competitive salary of £36,124 - £42,708 per annum (pro rata for part time).
Full time, part time and job share opportunities will be considered.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a Waste Management Officer to join our Waste, Recycling and Fleet Services Team. The ideal candidate will share our values, commitment, and motivation to make a difference for our residents, clients, and communities.
About The Role
This role supports our Waste Services functions across the districts, working with our service partner Serco to:
* Ensure excellent service delivery to residents and businesses
* Resolve service issues and handle complex customer queries
* Manage the Environmental Permit of the site
* Promote Waste Reduction and Recycling campaigns, including event support
About You
Educated to NVQ level 4/degree level or with equivalent experience, with strong knowledge of the waste industry, enforcement issues, and health and safety regulations.
* Customer-focused with experience in service delivery
* Effective communicator and negotiator, capable of working with developers and producing waste policies
* Team player, confident in cross-team collaboration
* Well organized with IT and analytical skills, adaptable to changing demands
* Valid full clean driving license; COTC qualification desirable
