East Lothian Council seek to appoint a positive, resilient, and inclusive individual for the position of Senior Business Support Assistant, at The Brae. The Brae is the severe and complex needs provision attached to Rosehill High School, on the Wallyford Learning Campus. The Brae currently has two classes with a combined total of 14 learners, but this will expand to four classes/28 learners from August 2024.
As Senior Business Support Assistant you should be highly skilled, motivated and experienced. Experience of working in a school setting is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
The post will also require candidates to have an ability to establish good working relationships and an ability to prioritise tasks in a fast paced and dynamic office environment. You will be expected to work independently and with confidence to deliver a high level customer experience.
This secondary learning facility is designed to support creative approaches to learning, with a range of adaptive teaching spaces. Alongside up to date and digitally enabled classrooms, there is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) wing, a Learning Resource Centre, extensive facilities to support the arts, and a state-of-the-art sport and leisure complex. Learning and teaching on the campus goes beyond the traditional classroom and encompasses outdoor learning and sustainability. The campus also includes a number of community and health spaces to support collaboration between a range of professionals and sectors. The Brae has been purpose built and includes a number of bespoke spaces to support ASN.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they can:
1. Communicate clearly, kindly and sensitively with young people with severe and complex additional needs, to help reduce any barriers to presence, participation and achievement in school
2. Work as part of the team around the child, building and maintaining strong relationships with parents, partners and the wider school community
3. Exhibit the interpersonal skills required to play a full part in safeguarding and nurturing young people, offering the right balance of challenge and support
