Project Details
The Clerk of Works will oversee a range of residential construction schemes including new build housing, refurbishment projects, and mixed-use developments throughout the East Midlands.
Projects will be located across Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Northamptonshire.
Responsibilities and Duties
This Clerk of Works job in Leicester will involve regional travel across multiple sites, ensuring consistent construction quality and compliance across all assigned projects.
1. Conduct routine site inspections across Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Northamptonshire
2. Assess quality of construction works on residential and mixed-use developments
3. Ensure works are delivered in line with specifications, drawings, and UK building regulations
4. Identify defects, snags, and non-compliant works and monitor resolution
5. Produce comprehensive inspection reports with photographic records
6. Liaise with contractors, developers, and professional teams
7. Attend site meetings and provide technical input where required
8. Promote high standards of quality across all construction projects
Desired Skills and Experience
The successful Clerk of Works will demonstrate strong technical construction knowledge and experience across similar UK projects.
9. Experience working as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector, or Site Manager
10. Solid understanding of residential construction and building standards
11. Experience working across the East Midlands construction sector is advantageous
12. Strong report writing and organisational skills
13. Ability to manage inspections across a regional portfolio of sites
14. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
15. ICWCI qualification (MICWCI / LICWCI) preferred
16. CIOB, RICS, CABE or equivalent construction-related membership considered
17. Relevant construction or building qualification desirable
