Role Overview
As a senior backend engineer (Go) you will be part of a team responsible for building, maintaining and evolving our platform. You will help deliver reliable services to electricity grid operators and optimise trading markets to maximise revenue for assets under our control.
Tech Stack & Tools
* Golang for backend services
* Cassandra, TimescaleDB, and S3/Athena for data storage
* Microservice architecture with Pulsar, RESTful and WebSocket APIs
* AWS infrastructure
* GitLab for source control, CI/CD
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical leadership within the team and oversee the construction, maintenance, and evolution of critical platform components.
* Enhance the software platform to deliver responsive and reliable services for electricity grid operators.
* Mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
* Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Scrum Masters, and stakeholders to solve technical challenges.
* Design and implement flexible, efficient solutions that adapt to evolving industry needs.
* Champion operational and technical agility, promoting best practices and staying ahead of market changes.
* Lead problem‑solving on complex technical issues with a high degree of autonomy.
* Contribute to thought leadership by researching emerging technologies and best practices.
* Help define and maintain a long‑term strategic roadmap for the platform.
Required Qualifications
* Degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
* Organised, adaptable team player with a track record of defining and delivering technical strategy.
* Self‑motivated, with proven experience solving problems pragmatically and collaboratively.
* Experience with Go (or other strongly typed languages), AWS, and cloud‑native technologies.
* Familiarity with multiple database technologies and ability to communicate complex solutions to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
* Experience with cloud‑based microservice architectures, continuous integration and delivery.
* Passion for making an impact on climate change through technology.
* Proven mentorship experience.
* Strong stakeholder communication skills for evaluating technical solutions and strategies.
