About The Role

Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off night shifts.

The FSO will be expected to operate within the Reel Room ensuring reels are received, stored, available, prepared and managed accordingly to meet production requirements to the required standards. The FSO will be responsible for setting up the Reel stand operation and to assist in the Press Hall in line with the quality process documentation. At all times, the FSO will ensure that the reels are prepared according to the production requirements in a safe manner. Additionally, the FSO is expected to work flexibly across the NPHL operations and as part of a team to meet the business needs.


Key Responsibilities

* Operation and understanding of Aurosys (NPHL Reel Handling System) and Aurolog, the accompanying information system.
* The FSO will be responsible for completing all relevant paperwork and processes involved with reel intake, reel preparation and reel stand production including pre and post run checks.
* Ensuring that each incoming reel is identified and reconciled with the corresponding electronic delivery note.
* The FSO (KN) requires capability to drive a FLT and understand reel storage and segregation procedures.
* Quality of reels and splice patterns are checked – this applies from reel intake to U-Veritas or equivalent throughput and reels in production. This also applies to the manually redressed reels.
* Reel preparation waste is kept to a minimum (please refer to KPI’s).
* Observe reels as they travel through to Reel Handling equipment.
* The FSO will be able to operate the preparation lines and reel stands.
* Presses are kited for production requirements.
* The FSO will be able to set up reel stands for specified production. Inclusive of Pre & Post run checks.
* The FSO will work collaboratively in achieving all KPI’s (Reel throughput, Web breaks, and Reel preparation waste being examples).
* The FSO will assist with webbing up the press, under the direction of NPHL.
* The FSO will assist with re-webbing the press, inclusive of removal of paper debris following a web break, under the direction of NPHL.
* The FSO will assist with Plating of the press when required.
* Adhere to relevant Health and Safety requirements i.e. Safety Wear, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and Manual Handling guidelines.
* Any Health and Safety concerns are reported to the appropriate point of escalation and / or NPHL Helpdesk. Reporting shall be covered in an incident /near miss document.
* Follow the safe systems of working as dictated in your training information guides and risk assessments.
* All pre and post run checks of associated equipment are to be conducted in line with NPHL standards. Any equipment defect is reported appropriately.
* All material handling vehicles operations must be carried out as per training. Any additional department specific health and safety requirements associated with the FSO role must be adhered to.
* Keeping the immediate working area safe and clear of any impediments, such as trip hazards, spills, etc.
* Keep area and machines clean and tidy and dispose of waste in the correct manner.
* Housekeeping standards are maintained in line with the area visual standards.
* The FSO should only undertake a task that they are trained in and competent to do.
* Support training of new staff members.
* Assist NPHL to meet all KPI (Key Performance Indicators) requisites through all production shifts.
* Accurately and legibly complete all relevant documentation associated with all relevant tasks.

* Monitoring product presentation and quality checks throughout the production run.
* To assist in the manual movement of product in the event of equipment failure.
* At all times, the FSO will ensure that bundle and finished pallet is of optimum quality and that finished product will be loaded on to the correct vehicle in a safe and appropriate manner.


Skills Required

* Flexibility – Ability to move between areas to meet the needs of the business.
* Excellent team working skills and ability to at all times integrate with both OCS employees and NPHL employees.
* Ability to understand and complete reasonable requests and tasks set by management.
* Ability to take responsibility & ownership for the various tasks involved in the working area.
* Ability to assist colleagues in other operations/ departments as required.
* Good numeracy and literacy skills.
* Ability to work night shifts.
* Must be computer literate.
* Ability to learn and understand the internal operating systems and processes.
* Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Good organisational skills.
* Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised.
* Ability to work safely.
* License/certification for any material handling equipment you are required to operate
