Role Summary
Working within the multi-disciplinary Engineering Team, you will report to the Discipline Lead Engineer to provide general mechanical engineering support to Government Services EMEA projects and bids with a particular focus on water and fuel. The role may require frequent visits to various operational sites, which could be overseas. You will provide engineering input and support to current UK MOD projects (e.g., Joint Operational Fuels System and Combat Water Support System) as well as projects and bids for other UK Government Departments.
Responsibilities
* Deliver engineering aspects of projects from inception to completion, either by leading or working as part of a team. Produce and check design calculations, prepare technical specifications and enquiries, conduct research investigations, consult with component manufacturers and constructors, monitor performance results and prepare reports.
* Apply knowledge of basic engineering principles, using judgment to select and adapt engineering options to meet defined performance criteria and stakeholder expectations.
* Provide specific support to the development and delivery of packaged equipment, mainly for water treatment related work.
* Inspect new equipment and prepare conditioning reports on recovered equipment from deployment.
* Plan, participate in and report on equipment/system integration trials.
* Produce detailed specifications and scopes of work, review supplier submissions.
* Devise initial concepts, develop detailed design, perform design integration and validate/review mechanical systems as tasked.
* Supervise the interface between different packages of equipment to form a well-integrated complete system.
Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering and practical ability to support the design and development of mechanical systems.
* Hands-on experience of 3-5 years of mechanical engineering work.
* Competent in the use of MS Office and AutoCAD; knowledge of 3D design software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, and PDMS would be beneficial.
* Competent in performing engineering calculations (manual and software) for HVAC, water supply, distribution & drainage.
Desirable
* Ability to work independently or within a collaborative team.
* Previous experience in Water Treatment industries or equipment.
* Role based in Swindon, Wiltshire.
