Humanoid is the first AI and robotics company in the UK, creating the world’s most advanced, reliable, commercially scalable, and safe humanoid robots. Our first humanoid robot HMND 01 is a next-gen labour automation unit, providing highly efficient services across various use cases, starting with industrial applications.

Our Mission

At Humanoid we strive to create the world’s leading, commercially scalable, safe, and advanced humanoid robots that seamlessly integrate into daily life and amplify human capacity.

Vision

In a world where artificial intelligence opens up new horizons, our faith in its potential unveils a new outlook where, together, humans and machines build a new future filled with knowledge, inspiration, and incredible discoveries. The development of a functional humanoid robot underpins an era of abundance and well-being where poverty will disappear, and people will be able to choose what they want to do. We believe that providing a universal basic income will eventually be a true evolution of our civilisation.

Solution

As the demands on our built environment rise, labour shortages loom. With the world’s workforce increasingly moving away from undesirable tasks, the manufacturing, construction, and logistics industries critical to our daily lives are left exposed. By deploying our general-purpose humanoid robots in environments deemed hazardous or monotonous, we envision a future where human well-being is safeguarded while closing the gaps in critical global labour needs.

We are seeking a Teleoperation Control Engineer to lead the development of intuitive teleoperation pipelines that unlock new robotic capabilities and fuel learning through high-quality human demonstrations.

This role focuses on building the bridge between human operators and complex humanoid robots. You\'ll work at the intersection of hardware devices, operator interfaces, software integration, and learning workflows, enabling human supervisors to teach, guide, and correct robotic behaviors in real time.

You’ll be instrumental in creating a teleop-powered flywheel: fast, intuitive teleoperation that produces rich data, which accelerates model training, which in turn reduces reliance on teleop — compounding progress over time.

A deep understanding of robot control principles and hands-on experience with real robotic hardware are essential for success in this role.

What You’ll Do:

* Design and implement intuitive, low-latency teleoperation interfaces for controlling humanoid robots in manipulation and mobility tasks.
* Develop a robust teleop architecture that can scale across platforms and applications—from manipulation to loco-manipulation and beyond.
* Integrate a broad range of input devices (e.g., puppet arms, VR controllers, gloves, haptic devices, motion capture systems) into the robot software stack.
* Translate noisy, high-frequency human input into smooth targets for the robot
* Build tooling to streamline operator training and demonstration workflows, including in sim and hardware environments.
* Develop semi-autonomous features, blending human input with autonomous control for enhanced precision and ease of use.
* Ensure sensor data fusion and create effective visualization tools for intuitive remote control.
* Conduct stress tests to ensure system reliability under extended operational conditions.
* Work directly with real robotic hardware, ensuring software is robust and well-integrated with physical systems.
* Collaborate with perception and hardware teams to bring teleoperation requirements into the HW design.
* MS or PhD in Robotics, Computer Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience in robotics, with a strong focus on teleoperation systems and human-robot interfaces.
* Expertise in integrating teleop devices and building operator interfaces that prioritize usability, precision, and operator flow.
* Proficient in C++ and Python, with experience in ROS/ROS2, real-time data streaming, and robotic middleware.
* Strong understanding of robot kinematics, coordinate systems, and interfacing with low-level control systems.
* Experience working directly with real robotic hardware (with humanoid robots, dexterous manipulation, or mobile manipulation) in laboratory or production environments.
* Experience developing modular and scalable software architectures for robotic systems.
* Strong debugging and system performance optimization skills.

Nice-to-have:

* Experience with data collection for imitation learning, behavior cloning, or other robot learning paradigms.
* Exposure to intent inference, shared autonomy, or assistive control.
* Experience working with simulation environments (Isaac Gym, Mujoco, Unity) for teleop + data collection.
* Passion for building elegant tools that improve the human-robot experience.

What We Offer:

* Competitive salary plus participation in our Stock Option Plan
* Paid vacation and travel opportunities to our London, Vancouver, and Boston offices
* Office perks: free breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and regular team events
* Freedom to influence the product and own key initiatives
* Collaboration with top‑tier engineers, researchers, and product experts in AI and robotics
* Startup culture prioritising speed, transparency, and minimal bureaucracy

Seniority level

* Mid-Senior level
