Position overview:
Our future EHS Officer will work closely with and support the HSE Manager to provide an efficient and effective health, safety and environmental support service to the Coventry site in order to ensure the Plant and Tech Centre meets its Business Objectives, continually promote a positive Health and Safety culture whilst complying with all applicable legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deputise for the HSE Manager in their absence
2. Encourage a positive safety culture at the site.
3. Provide advice and support to the management team, supervisors and team leaders on health, safety and environmental matters.
4. Work towards achieving the sites HSE targets published annually with an aim of zero lost time accidents.
5. Completion of accident and near miss investigations and ensure all corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
6. Ensure a comprehensive risk assessment program is in place throughout the plants.
7. Carry out office DSE assessments where required.
8. Assist in the development of Risk Assessments and Procedures to develop safe systems of work.
9. Maintain the ISO 14001 and work towards achieving IOS 45001 certification including complying with and carrying out internal audit schedule
10. Ensure a comprehensive program of safety inspections and audits is in place throughout the plant.
11. Involve employees in health and safety activities including risk assessments and safety walks.
12. Take part in design reviews to ensure health and safety considerations are discussed at an early stage of the design process.
13. Maintenance of the COSHH assessment programme.
14. Ensure routine testing and inspection including LOLER, PAT, PUWER are completed to plan.
15. Carry out group and individual training sessions on health, safety and environment topics.
16. Attend HSE Committee meetings on a monthly basis
17. Implement safety campaigns and promotions as required
18. Implement and manage a plant health, safety and environmental improvement plan, ensuring that actions are closed out in a timely manner.
19. Assist the HSE Manager with complying with the corporate reporting requirements.
20. Ensure the plant complies with machinery safety requirements including CE marking and LOTO.
21. Assist the HSE Manager in ensuring Lear’s HSE Directive is fully implemented.
22. Ensure visitors and contractors are carefully managed on site.
23. Review all contractor risk assessments and method statements prior to the commencement of any work on site.
24. Ensure the permit to work process is followed and audited as per the audit schedule
25. Ensure adequately trained first aid, fire and spillage personnel and ensure provision of equipment is replenished weekly.
26. Ensure safety violations are handled in line with company procedures.
Key skills and Qualifications:
27. Environmental qualification such as IEMA Management Certificate.
28. 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role in manufacturing
29. Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent)
30. ISO14001 Auditor Certification (internal)
31. ISO 45001 Auditor Certification (internal)
32. Higher level Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH diploma or equivalent
